Frank Gomez Jr., former SJC-JC and UB lecturer, has published a collection of poetry entitled “Welcome To Irie Park: Rethinking Thinking” with contributing poems by Mathias R. Vairez Jr., UB lecturer currently on study leave in the U.S., and a foreword by SJC-JC lecturer Indira Chavarria.
This poetry collection, which also featured artwork from Taiwanese-Belizean artist Julian Veronin Kuo, is intended for the general public and the poetically inclined, those who have an appreciation for poetry as well as students in high school and college.
Welcome To Irie Park, which showcases fifty poems arranged thematically mirroring life from childhood memories to finality, is unique given its dual focus of being a book of poetry and a textbook, a teacher’s resource for poetic literacy.
In her review, Dr. Carolyn Gentle-Genitty, a Belizean academic and assistant professor at IUPUI in Indianapolis, described it as “emotionally capturing, thought provoking, and delightfully engaging...capturing moments of anger, sinful bliss, pain, agony, happiness, excitement, and other stirring emotions in a tantalizing encapsulation of words about life, work, self, and society.” “Welcome to Irie Park” is available at Amazon.com as well as from the publisher and authors. |
Welcome to Irie Park, poems by Frank Gomez Jr. with contribution from Mathias R. Vairez Jr., is published by Educational Concepts, LLC.
